image Once in a while we all end up eating our words. Last summer I complained here (and again here) about the poor coverage of entrepreneurship and startups by the News & Observer. Newspapers in general are suffering from a changing business model and the staff (and coverage) cutbacks are one of the symptoms of this transition. But maybe that trend is not continuing as I’ve been seeing better business coverage as of late. For example, this past Sunday, they ran a great article about “Mompreneurs.” I know that term is a trendy thing, but the reality is that its increasingly common for moms to start companies, often inspired by their experiences as mothers.

If you don’t have the paper anymore, the article is available online. Besides the stories of a half-dozen mom-startups, there are also some great “Tips on Starting a Business” and some useful links:

In somewhat related news, there is a lunch event on May 20th from the RTP Small Business Development Innovation Network about raising funds and attracting investors in a tight economy. It's taught by Lea Strickland and the details are here.
