There is a great quote by the famous screenwriter, Robert McKee, and it goes like this: "Story is about respect, not disdain, for the audience." It's sad how many people forget this concept when giving a presentation and articulating their company's or possibly their own story. McKee continues by stating that "when talented people write [or present] badly it's generally for one of two reasons: Either they're blinded by an idea they feel compelled to prove or they're driven by an emotion they must express. When talented people write [or present] well, it is generally for this reason: They're moved by a desire to touch the audience."The lesson for all of us to never forget your audience. Throw out your selfish desires and give back to those who have invested their time to hear you speak. This isn't rocket science, but everyone seems to forget this core principle.
