I don't link to Guy Kawasaki very often - or I haven't for a while. Remember, I interviewed him in my car on the way to the airport in Seattle a couple years back.
But I really don't link to him now because he is so big that I figure I am the last to read his posts. That said, I could not resist sharing this one due to its entertainment value. The post is called, Into Thin Air: How I Spent $5,000 on Air and Made a Fifty-Year-Old Woman Swoon.
Yes, it is about the new Apple Air, but it is clever, tragic, and funny, so read the post. I gotta give it to Guy, he knows how to bring out the humor. If you have seen him speak, you know what I mean - he does it live, too.
Anyway, enough about Guy. What about this Apple Air? It is on my wish list with my husband. I am hoping for one sometime this year. Maybe I can swing it as a graduation gift as I get my MFA in July. Maybe I will use our stimulus check that Bush is sending. We are supposed to go out and spend every last penny of that, right? I don't want to be accused of being a bad American.
The air is near perfect. I would have made is a bit smaller, personally. Light and small, that's the best combination. I have small hands so a slightly smaller keyboard is fine for me. But the current version is lovely and light, and beautiful in so many ways.
And besides, my iBook is worn out. Really. The keys on the built-in keyboard are worn down and five letter are gone completely. And this is my second keyboard, I already replaced it once. And there is a crack on the lid. And the thing weighs a ton. I have an IMac desktop too, but I have to have a laptop. And I will never go back to PCs.
So read Guy's post, get a good chuckle, and then consider joining me in buying the new Air sometime soon.
Funny (to me) story about my worn iBook. I have to give it some credit, it is tough. I took the iBook with me on my 40 day motorcycle trip thinking that, for sure, the thing would vibrate to death to get crunched, or something. I was wanting a new laptop and thought that this would ensure my success. It was in one of my saddle bags. But it did fine - through vibrations, a couple falls, and all kinds of semi-conscious abuse. Go figure.
