Can Be Extroverted

While you don’t have to be extroverted as a rule to be a good salesperson, the best salespeople usually have the ability to become extroverted when they need it.

If you’re too introverted or don’t have the ability to make yourself extroverted when the situation calls for it, you can’t hope to be a good salesperson. Because most salespeople have to go out of their way to begin talking to people about their product or service, you can’t just keep to yourself if you want to be a successful salesperson. You have to be able to come up to people and speak to them comfortably and confidently, as can often be done by those who are naturally more extroverted and get energy from being social with others. 

Not Easily Discouraged

Sales can be a hard job. While having something that people are actually interested in and want to buy, being a nice and approachable person can also factor into how well you do at selling things. So when one of these factors, or any number of other factors, isn’t being well received, it’s likely that you won’t be making the sale.

While a lack of success can be hard to swallow, what you don’t want to do as a salesperson is to become discouraged. When you get discouraged, your attitude changes and starts working against you getting back out there and making any more sales. So if you’re someone who can take failure and remain positive, a career in sales could be great for you. 

Enthusiastic About What They’re Selling

Depending on what it is that you’re selling, you may or may not really believe in the product or service. But despite this, if you’re wanting to be a successful salesperson, you have to be able to be enthusiastic about what you’re selling. 

For some, this enthusiasm might come as a natural part of their personality. For others, being able to turn on this positivity and look for the good in any product or service can help you make sales where others might not have thought it possible.
