1] Disk Clean Up

Windows has certain built in tools that can automatically find and delete unnecessary files to free the disk space. Search the file in the Start menu, this will scan the PC and show the space used by temporary files, download updates, cached files and the files from the recycle bin. You have to select the boxes to delete some or all of the files. You need to click the Clean UP system files for a deeper scan.

2] Uninstall games and apps

Windows creates a restore points automatically so you can shift to the previous mode if something goes wrong. This also requires disk space. It is not advisable to delete the restore points as there will be no backup if anything goes wrong.

4] Tune-up utilities: delete driver downloads, duplicate files and more

Apart from the in-built tools there are a lot of utilities that can find and delete the unnecessary files. There are tools that can delete the duplicate files and these tools can be downloaded free of cost and there are ones that can be bought also.

5] How to detect large files on your hard drive

Even if the above tips do not work you can type’ size: gigantic’ in the search bar. This will show the list of any file that is over 128MB in size. This will downloads, outdated drivers, backups and ISO images. You can delete from here but be careful about what you are deleting.
